Treatment Programs
30-DAY PROGRAM
This program is designed to assist individuals who have a good foundation and focus on the 12-step concept. Completion of this program is predicated upon the clients’ ability to follow their treatment plan and show that they are returning to a safe environment to live.
90-DAY RESIDENTIAL / MONTH-TO-MONTH
This dual diagnosis long-term program is catered to each individuals needs. We take into consideration the cognitive and behavioral needs of the client and develop a ‘Master Treatment Plan’ specifically designed for the individual. During this portion of treatment the client undergoes individual and group counseling along with mental health treatment. This program is best suited for long-term (90+ days) care where our clients can stabilize on necessary medications, process difficult and deep-seeded issues, and work with family and loved ones while developing necessary skills to remain in recovery.
FAMILY PROGRAM
Because families are affected by substance abuse, we have included a comprehensive family program and individual sessions with our clients and their families. The family program allows the clinical team to help the family work through any issues that need to be resolved.
At the Ark we believe that the development of meaningful, supportive relationships for our clients is the “key principle” for success. This central element in improving retention and well-being of clients has led to the development of our Family Roles class, Relationships class, and other services listed below.
The expected outcomes of this design are directly measured in terms of “positive changes in parent-ing, family management, bonding, and communications skills.” Family Services are part of each client’s treatment plan. Clients are part of a family system and the entire family, however defined, must recover together.
The family can be parents, significant others of parents, siblings, children, other relatives and family friends. Counseling sessions are held for our clients’ children as needed to assist with anger management, relationships and self-esteem issues. Adult group topics on Family Therapy nights focus on Boundaries, Family Roles, The Disease of Addiction, Guilt and Shame, and Communication Skills.
Family Therapy is weekly (Thursday nights), Family Support Group is bi-monthly (1st and 3rd Wednesday), and Family Conference is held quarterly (TBA).
TRANSITIONAL LIVING
Clients who complete the program are eligible for our Transitional Program. Designed as 'work release' for individuals who may not have a safe place to go back to or who feel that they still need some structure as they re-assimilate back into their lives. While enrolled in 'Transitional Living' our clients remain living at The Ark of Little Cottonwood. They are assisted in finding employment and/or attending school. They are required to continue attending evening groups and individual counseling sessions with their counselor. This program allows the client to begin the assimilation process to independence with structure.
AFTERCARE
Clients who complete their program may be eligible for aftercare. Aftercare is free of charge and includes a weekly aftercare group and an individual counseling session with a counselor each month. In addition, if an aftercare client finds themselves in a relapse (or headed that way) we encourage them to come back in for a 2-week stabilization. During this time we assess their situation and help them get back on their feet.
SPECIALTY PROGRAMS
EQUINE ASSISTED PSYCHOTHERAPY
EAP involves activities involving horses which will require the client or group to utilize resources. This group teaches non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, problem solving, leadership, taking responsibility and developing confidence. Using EAP, we are able to address a variety of mental health and human development needs in a fun and unique atmosphere.
INNER CHILD WORKSHOP
The Inner Child Workshop bases itself on the premise that many of the self-defeating behaviors that an addict exemplifies are a direct effect of issues that have not been processed from childhood. Examples of these issues can include abuse, abandonment, and low self-esteem.
INTERVENTIONS
Professional intervention services are available. They are very carefully planned and tailored to the individual.
